history of the Xin-Feng website on the world wide web
I started my first website in January, 2000: a free website at XOOM, members.xoom.com/meulstee, 4 pages with some pictures of my smooth Chow Chows Nemo and Pandora. Later it was changed into members.nbci.com/meulstee and I added more pages.Part of these pages are still available at the web archive. There you can see the version from January, 2001 (without the photos).
July, 2000 I started the Chow Chow Puppie Pages, a website with photos from Chow Chow Pups in all colors and coats. Visitors can send me a photo from their Chow Chow pup to add on the site. This site was on freeservers. The Xin-Feng website was transferred to freeservers too, when nbci stopped their free website service.
October, 2001 the third site started, Anita's Artwork, with computer altered photos. This site was also at the freeservers domain and the version from January, 2002 is still available at the web archive. In 2002 my provider, FREELER, started with websites for members, so all three sites went to www.ai170841.freeler.nl. February, 2005 the Xin-Feng Chow Chows website moved to its own domain www.xin-feng.nl.
November, 2005 Freeler was taken over by HetNet and the Puppie Pages and Anita's Artwork were moved to home.hetnet.nl/~f2hai170841/. The move went everything but smoothly, so I decided to move all sites to www.xin-feng.nl, including the new site Vita Texla Chow Chows, that used to be a part of the Chow Chow Puppie Pages.
On October 13th, 2009 Vita Texla Chow Chows moved to an own domain: vita-texla.nl.

In time the Xin-Feng site grew from a few pages about our own smooth Chow Chows into a large, informative site about (smooth) Chow Chows. In the future I hope to add pages about behaviour, training and "reading" body language.
From 2001 to 2004 I reviewed other sites and rewarded some with the "Nemo Website Award". This site was honored with awards from others too. When I reorganised this site I decided to remove these pages.
The Chow Chow Puppie Pages started out with a few photos, mainly our own pups. At that time there were not many sites with smooth Chow Chows on the web, a photo from a smooth pup was hard to find. With the help from many visitors it became an overview from puppies in all colors, coats and types.
The Vita Texla Chow Chows started as part of the Puppie Pages, because there were mainly photos from the pups born at Vita Texla. Early 2006 I started rewriting the pages to turn it into a nice smooth Chow Chows site.
Anita's Artwork (no longer on the web) was a small webgallery with some computer altered photos from dogs. Now there are artworks from dogs, flowers and the city of Rotterdam and photos from Rotterdam and sundown. Most of the are from the years 2000 - 2003, the last years I was too busy to add new photos and artwork.
On January 3rd, 2007 we started a weblog. I don't write every day, but I try to write once a week.
tools used to create this site
The very first pages were made with the XOOM-site builder. Later I learned myself HTML by viewing the sources of other pages on the web. Once I was a COBOL and PL1 programmer, the knowledge from these main-frame programming languages did help to understand and use HTML. Later I discovered some sites with HTML manuals and those helped to write all pages in "Valid HTML".
September 2006 I redesigned the site and started to use CSS.
I resize the photos with Ulead Photo Express 2.0 SE and 20/20. The photo that is used as background was made into a seamless tile with 20/20. The photo album is made with Picasa.
Ulead Photo Express SE came with my HP scanner; 20/20 is a free photo program; Picasa is a free photo program by Google.
